How Do You Do that? My work pairs modern digital photography with the ancient art encaustic painting, in which colored pigment is suspended between layers of wax and resin. Other materials are often collaged into the wax medium, including dried plants, natural fibers and handmade paper. I use the translucency of the wax to create layers of information: color, text, texture, rhythm. This video will give you a quick look at how some of my paintings are created. (Note: the video does not have sound and requires the Flash player.) I offer workshops every month if you'd like to learn how to do this yourself.
