Welcome to our video workshops in encaustic wax painting, taught by Linda Womack, the author of Embracing Encaustic: Learning to Paint with Beeswax. Linda has taught in-person workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada, and now she’s bringing her unique teaching style right into your studio via the web.

Encaustic is one of the oldest forms of painting, with paint made from pure pigment mixed with beeswax and resin. The mixture is applied hot, and then reheated to fuse the layers together. It’s one of the most forgiving mediums available, allowing you to “undo” virtually anything, giving you the freedom to be fearless and let your creativity flow.

(Intermediate level class) The crackle finish is a shellac-based resist that you paint onto warm wax then super heat until it cracks, leaving an elegant organic finish that would be impossible to paint by hand. This finish requires the use of a propane torch so if you aren't familiar with how to use one you'll learn that too.
